Angie Strauss Gallery |
Niagara's very popular art gallery features the works of owner-artist Angie Strauss in a lovingly restored 1850s Colonial house and garden, ideally located in the historic Old Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake.
It is here in the "must visit" destination the talented and internationally collected artist meets and greets her many clients from around the globe. Angie’s vibrant oils and watercolours portray local scenes, vineyards, florals and landscapes as original paintings, giclees, prints and art cards.
When asked about her passion for her craft, she enthusiastically replies, "As an artist, it gives me great pleasure to meet and chat with the many visitors to my Gallery from around the world, and to enjoy their reactions to my paintings! Many, many times, I have seen people just stand there with tears in their eyes admiring my work. What more could a creative person wish for?"
Also featured in this gallery are other talented local artisans, with one-of-a-kind jewelry and crafts.
Open seven days a week year-round except for Christmas and Boxing Day. Please call the gallery for winter hours (905-468-2570).
As a young child in England, Angie spent her most enjoyable days in the colourful gardens of the rural English countryside and she still smiles as she remembers the profound effect they had on her senses, her life and its creative direction.
In the early 60s, Angie emigrated to Canada, where she now lives and paints in the beautiful and historic town of Niagara-on-the-Lake. This idyllic setting is the backdrop for her home, a lovingly restored Victorian farmhouse, and her English perennial gardens.
Set amongst the wildflowers is Angie's art studio, and it's there in this private retreat that she can immerse herself in her own "creative" world, surrounded by nature as her inspiration.
Truly a "renaissance" person, Angie Strauss is a successful artist, an inspiring public speaker and charitable fund-raiser, as well as the recipient of numerous awards, including Entrepreneur of the Year and Niagara's prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.
