The Toronto Film Festival's Film Circuit program assists theatres in smaller centres to gain access and screen Canadian and international films. The Film Circuit provides services and support to volunteers and communities that wish to build film series and showcase films that are not locally available outside of international film festivals.
When the live theatre of the Shaw Festival ends, the community of Niagara-on-the-Lake was unsure of what to do between seasons. With help from residents, volunteers and the community, The Shaw Festival announced a film series to fill the winter months until the next season of live theatre begins. With significant success since the opening film series in 2005, the series is ongoing starting in December with screenings in the afternoons twice a week.
