Maplehurst |
This house is perfect for the architechtural enthusiast because it is representative of a large variety of architechtural styles. With a mix of Italianate, Queen Anne and Romanesque Revival styles, this beautiful Victorian home has everything - 2 storey bay windows, gables, porches, a verandah, and even a tower. It was built around 1880 by Linus Woolverton a fruit farmer since 1798. In addition to growing fruit, Linus was editor of The Canadian Horticulturist, secretary of the Ontario Fruit Growers Association, and Inspector of Experimental Stations. Maplehurst was one of these stations.
