Path of Possibilities

The Path of Possibilities is a large sculpture by artist Ilan Averbuch originally located at the main entrance of Brock University, just south of the bus loop in front of The Schmon Tower. In September 2014, the sculpture was moved to a new location just north of the concrete pathway between the Cairns Bioscience complex and 'D' Block of the Mackenzie Chown complex, in order to make way for a new sculpture of Sir isaac Brock gracing the location.

in front of the Schmon Tower in September 2014.

The piece consists of gazelles and tigers crouching down towards each other while resting on a platform of interlocking beams. It has been described as 'a parody of the Human Centipede'. It is the centerpiece of the Teutloff Collection, which is a group of sculptures that were donated to the university by gallery owner and collector Lutz Teutloff. This particular sculpture was donated in 1988. Its position in front of the entrance of the university has symbolic significance. It was created as a reminder to all the students and staff that there are many options for our future. We can create our own paths, and the possibilities are endless. When looking at the statue when times are tough, it gives everyone hope that there is a path for everyone.
