Accessible Parks in the Niagara Greenbelt |
This self guided tour is focused on barrier-free travel, showcasing five of the most accessible parks and recreation areas in the Niagara Region. The parks are both natural and socially oriented, with paved or fine gravel trails, accessible restrooms and attractive settings. Beginning in the Township of Wainfleet and ending in Niagara Falls, the tour will take you through four municipalities, each with its own specific ecological features. Each of the destinations is enough of an attraction that the tour could easily be extended over a period of days rather than hours.
The destinations that you will be visiting include a man-made reservoir, ideal for fishing and boating, a wooded area, a marina and historic site, a Carolinian forest and a manicured park complete with fountains and gardens. Not only will you be introduced to some of the most spectacular landscapes and environments of Niagara, but everyone: people of all ages, abilities, and interests are able to enjoy themselves without having to worry about what is or is not available.
Points of interest on the tour include:
Chippawa Creek Conservation Area
Harold S. Bradshaw Memorial Park
Heartland Forest Nature Experience
