Forty Mile Creek Trails |
A slice of Grimsby's history can be spotted by trail enthusiasts passing through Forty Mile Creek Park 's portion of the Waterfront Trail. The park was once the site of the Engagement at the Forty, a major conflict during the war of 1812. The Grimsby Pumphouse and the Elizabeth Street Waterworks are both excellent examples of earlier 20th Century waterworks infrastructure that can be found along the trail and are restored and available for the public. Aside from the history found on the trail, the park will take you along the scenic shore of Lake Ontario, complete with a marina, boating dock and spots for fishing!
