Riverbank Trails

The Riverbank trails are a series of trails that occur at various locations along the Welland River, the majority of the trails are located adjacent to River Road. While going for a stroll along these trails you can enjoy the peaceful scenery and wildlife of the Welland River. The trails are equipped with a lookout deck and stairs leading to lower portions of the trail. Park benches, lighting and a nearby outdoor skating rink are all facilities associated with the Riverbank Trails. These trails are ideal for people of all skill levels, looking for a serene walk along the waters edge. Some areas are wheelchair and stroller accessible.

The initial stretch of trail was acquired and developed, as land became available, in the early 1980s. This initiative was supported by the Ontario Neighbourhood Improvement Program (ONIP) as part of its "Open Spaces" concept. The remaining portions of trail were developed between 1988 and 1991 under the Program For Renewal, Improvement, Development and Economic Revitalization (PRIDE) and ONIP.
