Walker's Creek Trail

The creek that runs  alongside the Walker's Creek Trail was once in the middle of Walker's Fruit Farm.  During the early 1960s, the farm used to employ many local kids from nearby Lakeport and Grantham High Schools to pick sweet cherries.  The Walker's son, Denis, used to go racing around on the flatbed truck delivering the baskets and ladders to the youth and would take them to the barn for lunch time.  A days work on the farm might net  you three 11 quart baskets full of the sweet cherries, tradeable for the going piece-work rate at the time. If you notice a red-brick ranch style house on the west-side of the creek on the North-side of Linwell Road,  you should be able to spot the Walker's barn located on that same property.
