Mountain Biking Twelve Mile Creek |
The 12 Mile Creek trails start outside downtown St. Catharines and run alongside the creek all the way into Short Hills Provincial Park. There is a network of mountain bike trails on either side of the creek, featuring technical single-track to gravel packed roads. This loop starts in downtown St. Catharines and travels along the eastern side of the creek until just before Glendale Avenue and carries on the western banks until it loops around at 1st Street Louth and returns back to downtown.
DeCew Falls Generating Station
St. Catharines Training Fire Tower
The trail system should only be used from dawn to dusk when there is sufficient light to see your surroundings.
This tour features countless views of the creek itself and the opportunity to see a wide range of flora and fauna. The trail is lined with an abundance of tree species; hickory, white pine, sugar maple, oak, beech and more - which makes riding in the fall extremely scenic. If you aren't cycling too fast you may be able to spot some of the local wildlife, including beavers, white-tail deer, blue jays and cardinals.
The trails are shared by hikers, joggers, cyclists and the occasional horse back rider. Caution should be used on the trail system
Take care of the trails, avoid use after heavy rain, stay on the trail, do not trespass or ride on any section of the Bruce Trail. Be courteous to other trail users, cyclists yield to pedestrians.
Below is the path with destinations along the way
