Heroic Stories of 1812: The Forgotten Heroes Tour

Left:View of the Niagara River from Queenston Heights, Niagara-on-the-Lake, (Kelsie Brewer). Top Right: Soldiers Monument at Drummond Hill Cemetery, a memorial for those who fell during the Battle at Lundy's Lane, Niagara Falls, (Kelsie Brewer). Bottom Right: Fort Mississauga's 19th Century brick tower, Niagara-on-the-Lake, (Kelsie Brewer).

The War of 1812 was one of the first wars to be fought on Canadian soil, and therefore the land, people and history leave a lot to be interpreted. Aside from the main military heroes, there were many other people involved in the war effort whose stories are either untold, or unfamiliar within our nation and history. This tour takes you back in time through stories of significant individuals, who have been forgotten from our history, but have played an important role in defining our heritage, our culture and our nation.

Point of Interests on the Tour Include:

Sir Gordon Drummond's Story at Lundy's Lane

John Norton's Story at Queenston Heights

Mary Henry's Story at Fort George.

Coloured Corps' Story at Fort Mississauga

Laura Secord's Story at Battle of Beaverdams Park
